Sometimes an experience requires traveling outside the 309 and one of those is picking apples. I grew up a few miles from the Old Apple Barn just outside of Bloomington, so this is a must-do activity for fall.
Curtis Orchard is located in Champaign and the variety of apples they offer is worth the journey. Keep tabs and plan your trip accordingly if you have a specific apple in mind as they determine which types are best to pick each day. Typically you can start picking in August-September.
Admission to pick apples is free, you just pay for the bag size you want to pick. They also have more activities for kids and adults of all ages, including a corn maze. We recommend grabbing some apple cider donuts while you're there!
